Gitane bicycles have been synonymous with French bicycle racing. No other brand can boast a greater racing pedigree than Gitane: with 11 Tours de France, 2 Giro d' Italias, the Vuelta a' Espana, numerous World Championships on the road and on the track, and at least one land speed record, Gitane bicycles have won just about every major road race over its storied history. Aside from its prestige on the race course, the company was a huge contributor to the "bike boom" in the USA during the early 1970's and along with some other manufacturers, introduced the first truly affordable lightweight racing bicycles to the American public. Many bike racers' first bike was a Gitane.
This bike was the best model Gitane built in 1970. I am the original owner, and the bike has all of its original parts. There are NO dents in the frame, there is NO rust. Only driven to church on Sundays by a little old lady (LOL)

After I got married in 1970, I sold my car and purchased similar bikes for my wife and I, to ride to collage and work. I use to ride in races all over the country with this bike and won every race I entered (I was in great shape then and very lucky.)
I hate to part with it; it holds many fawn memories. It has been in storage for the last 20-years and my current wife will not let me store it in her laundry room any longer.
Willing to sell as is or part out.
